OLé Represents with Strength and Heart at US Youth Futsal National Championships
July 18–21, 2025 | Kansas City, Missouri
OLé Futsal Club continued to build its national reputation this past weekend, sending two girls teams—2013G and 2014G—to compete in the US Youth Futsal National Championships in Kansas City. With over 160 teams from across the country, the tournament is widely recognized as the largest and most competitive youth futsal event in the United States.
This was OLé’s third year sending teams to Nationals. In its first year, the club’s 2008G team won the national title. In year two, the 2005B team were crowned champions while the 2008G team returned to the final. This year’s squads, younger but no less determined, continued that tradition of excellence.
The 2013G team, led by Coach Sammy Esquivel, posted a strong 2-1 record in group play but did not advance to the semifinals due to goal differential. Despite the early exit, the team’s performance stood out. “This group of girls are very special both on and off the court,” Esquivel said. “Their personalities are why I love coaching them, and the way they play this sport and how much they’ve developed in it is the reason I want to continue to work with them. The maturity they play with is unreal to see, and I could honestly watch them play all day, every day. It is a very cool feeling when I’m able to show these girls something completely new, and have them execute it right away or after such little practice with it. They’re the future of the club and the sport, so I’m just glad I’m able to guide them and provide all my knowledge and energy for them to grow as players and humans.”
The 2014G team, coached by Natalie McHale, advanced all the way to the semifinals, where they were knocked out in heartbreaking fashion during penalty kicks. “It’s heartbreaking,” McHale said. “But these girls gave it everything. They left everything on the court and proved they belong with the top teams in the country.”
Traveling with both teams was OLé Director of Coaching and co-founder, Jessie Zamudio, who praised the unity and camaraderie shown throughout the weekend. “Watching the teams pull together—supporting each other through wins, tight losses, and intense PKs—exemplifies the bond we build here at OLé,” he said.
Club Director and Founder Fabian Rodriguez credited the coaches for the teams’ success. “Our coaches prepared the girls so well,” Rodriguez said. “Every tactical adjustment they made gave our teams a real edge. The ability to prepare players for a national-level tournament—technically, tactically, and mentally—is what sets our staff apart.”
From national titles in older divisions to this year’s performances by rising stars, OLé continues to build a reputation for excellence, joy-filled competition, and development rooted in the club’s Latican Style. The future is bright—and the standard continues to rise.
