AARON GAMEZ

AARON GAMEZ

A proud product of Union High School in Grand Rapids, Michigan, Aaron Gamez brings leadership, creativity, and top-level experience to his role as a coach with OLé. Known for his sharp instincts and playmaking ability on the wing, Aaron currently competes with OLé’s Men’s Pro team while also helping develop the next generation of futsal players through the club’s Youth Academy.

Aaron’s coaching is shaped by a standout playing career. He captained FC BiH in the Midwest Premier League during his first season with the club, and has since made key contributions at Rapids City FC Pro in the MLIS, Real Detroit in the UPSL, and Grand Rapids OLé FC, where he helped lead the team to the 2024 NFPL Championship. His performances earned him multiple honors in 2024, including:GRSC MVP, GRSC Top Goalscorer, and UPSL Midwest-East Team of the Season.

Aaron is passionate about sharing his love for the game with young players, drawing from both his on-field experience and his deep local roots. His favorite quote— “Don’t wait for someone to bring you your flowers. Plant your own garden.” —captures the self-driven mindset he works to instill in every athlete he coaches.

CESAR ALAYO

CESAR ALAYO

Cesar Alayo is a passionate and energetic coach whose experience as a high-level striker informs the way he teaches the game. Known for his quickness, technical sharpness, and powerful shot, Cesar brings a player’s perspective to every session—drawing on years of experience competing at the collegiate and professional levels.

A proud alumnus of Wyoming High School, Cesar played college soccer at Muskegon Community College and later won a national championship with the OLé Men’s Futsal team. He has also competed in the arena game with the Muskegon Risers and Rapids City, and continues to play with OLé’s Pro Men’s squad.

As a coach with both East FC and OLé Futsal, Cesar is committed to helping young players improve their game and grow in confidence. He brings a focused, player-first approach to training, using his background as a striker to teach movement, timing, and finishing with purpose.

CESAR MARTINEZ

CESAR MARTINEZ

Cesar Martinez, a Grand Rapids native, has logged roughly 15 years on the futsal court and is now in his second year of coaching. He began with OLé’s original outdoor-and-futsal program and, when the club’s futsal arm became ABK, spent the next decade competing for ABK. During his teen years he also played outdoor soccer for Michigan Fire before joining Midwest United from ages 16 to 18. Futsal, however, remained the constant: Cesar stayed with the ABK Men’s team and now suits up for the OLé Men’s squad following the club’s return to its original name.

For Cesar, coaching at OLé is all about relationships—especially when the kids he trains show up to cheer on the men’s team. He believes futsal offers players a unique freedom of expression: “In soccer a 3-0 lead is huge; in futsal, with five minutes left, 3-0 is nothing.” His favorite memory is competing at nationals, an experience that continues to drive his passion for both playing and coaching the fast-paced indoor game.

CITLALI LUNA

CITLALI LUNA

Citlali Luna is a driven coach who channels her experience as an international-level player into empowering young athletes at OLé. A Grand Rapids native, Citlali rose through the OLé/ABK youth pathway from U5 all the way through U19 and starred on the OLé Women’s Pro Team. Her performance on the court earned her NFPL Women’s Player of the Week honors in 2023, and she helped Grand Rapids OLé reach the NFPL Championship match that year, finishing with eight goals and an assist despite playing limited minutes.

In 2025, Citlali was named to the U.S. Women’s National Futsal Team roster for the inaugural CONCACAF W Futsal Championship, making her one of the first players from OLé to be selected for that historic competition. She earned minutes on the court during the U.S. team’s triumphant friendly series in Costa Rica, stepping in as an Ala (winger) during a 5‑0 win over the host nation.

As a coach, Citlali brings that same elite-level insight and passion to the training ground, blending tactical detail with encouraging mentorship to help players develop confidence and creativity. Her journey—from youth standout to national-team contributor—is a core part of what she teaches: that hard work, technical skill, and opportunity can elevate athletes to the highest levels.

FRANCISCO “FRANKIE” MENDOZA

FRANCISCO “FRANKIE” MENDOZA

A Grand Rapids native, Frankie Mendoza has spent a decade immersed in futsal and the last three years on the coaching side of the game. He first stepped onto a futsal court at age 10 and, seven years later, traveled to Spain to represent the United States national futsal team. Today he guards the net for OLé’s Pro Men’s squad while serving as a Youth Academy coach.

Coaching at OLé is special to Frankie because he grew up wearing the club’s colors—“It feels great that I get to coach for OLé now,” he says. He loves futsal’s constant demand to stay one step ahead, a mindset he works to instill in every player he mentors. Frankie’s favorite memory on the court is winning his first national championship with ABK, a moment that continues to inspire his approach to both playing and coaching.

KIERSEN KORIENEK

KIERSEN KORIENEK

Raised in Grandville, Michigan, Kiersen Korienek has spent 11 years on the futsal court and, more recently, stepped onto the sideline for her first year of coaching. She grew up playing with ABK Futsal and now represents OLé on the Women’s Team. Her playing résumé includes back-to-back selections to the U.S. Youth Futsal International Teams in 2018 and 2019, and—since April 2025—a place on the U.S. Women’s National Futsal Team, with appearances in the Concacaf W Championship.

Kiersen’s soccer journey has been just as varied: club seasons with Michigan Fire Juniors, MFA Revolution, and Midwest United; high-school soccer at Grandville; arena and outdoor campaigns for the Muskegon Risers in 2021 and 2022; and college careers first at Michigan Technological University and now at Aquinas College.

Coaching at OLé feels like giving back to the community that shaped her. “Most of what I have accomplished I owe to this club and these coaches who believed in me long before I believed in myself,” she says. Kiersen values OLé’s culture of pushing players to be their best selves on and off the court—and there is, in her words, “no place I would rather be.”

She finds futsal special for the individual freedom and quick thinking it demands: the smaller court encourages creativity, sharp technical skills, and close connections among teammates. Her favorite memory so far is capturing the 2020 U.S. Youth Futsal National Championship—a triumph that continues to fuel her passion as both player and coach.

LESLI LUNA JAIMES

LESLI LUNA JAIMES

A Grand Rapids native, Lesli Luna Jaimes has devoted nearly her entire life to futsal. She first joined ABK/OLé at age five and has now accumulated 15 years of playing experience in the sport—alongside 15 years of outdoor soccer that began with OLé’s own soccer program and later continued with Michigan Fire/Rangers after OLé soccer closed. At 17 she represented the United States on the USYF National Team and traveled to Portugal for international competition, adding a global chapter to her résumé.

Lesli moved naturally into coaching three years ago and credits OLé’s vibrant club culture for fueling her passion. “I love the energy and the passion our whole staff has for the sport,” she says. Working with young players, watching them learn and develop, and teaching OLé’s distinctive style of play all motivate her—while the club’s talented coaching staff offers daily opportunities for her own growth. Having worn OLé colors her entire life, Lesli enjoys passing along the same playing philosophy she grew up with.

For Lesli, futsal’s magic lies in its creativity and relentless pace: players must invent new solutions and think several steps ahead at all times. Her favorite playing memory is reaching the national finals and facing her older sister for the title—an intense match that ended 0-1. Competing in Portugal remains another highlight, while her proudest coaching moment came when her 2016/17 girls’ team won its first-ever tournament during their debut season. A self-described futsal loyalist who relishes the fixo role, Lesli is also pursuing a degree in elementary education—combining her love for teaching with her lifelong passion for the game.

LITO ESQUIVEL

LITO ESQUIVEL

Born in Mexico City and raised in West Michigan, Lito Esquivel has spent a lifetime immersed in the game. After migrating to the U.S. at age six, he became a standout at East Kentwood High School, where he played a key role in the school’s first-ever state championship in 2008, captaining the team. He went on to compete at the collegiate level with Western Michigan University and later Davenport University, where he helped capture a national title, and was also a captain of this team. In his most recent playing experience, Lito has been a crucial part of the OLé FC dynasty and their numerous National Championships in the National Futsal Premier League and Futsal Championship Series. He currently serves as team captain.

Lito’s playing career includes stints with OLé FC, MI Rangers FC, MI Risers, Rapid City FC, ABK Pro, Lansing City Futsal, GRFC, and BiH, spanning both futsal and outdoor competition. Off the field, he brings over 18 years of coaching experience across Michigan and Illinois, having contributed to clubs such as MI Rangers FC, MFA, Midwest United FC, Illinois Futsal Factory, FC 1974/GLSA, ABK, and now OLé. He is also a part of the US Youth Futsal National ID staff. Lito currently holds his US Soccer B License as well as his US Youth Futsal Level 3 Futsal certificate.

Having coached alongside Fabian Rodriguez during the early days/founding of ABK, Lito is excited to be at OLé. His deep experience, competitive pedigree, and passion for teaching and developing, make him a valuable leader in both training sessions and games.

SAMUEL “SAMMY” ESQUIVEL

SAMUEL “SAMMY” ESQUIVEL

Born and raised in Grand Rapids, Sammy Esquivel has spent 16 years playing futsal and the last four-plus years guiding the next generation from the bench. A product of OLé’s youth ranks—he wore the club’s colors from age 4 through 13—Sammy became a regional and world champion at the youth level before joining the OLé/ABK Men’s team around age 18. His résumé also features an invitation to the U.S. Men’s National Futsal Team training camp in October–November 2024 and a Division 1 high-school state title, where he started every match as a sophomore and buried the winning penalty in the championship shoot-out.

Sammy loves coaching for OLé because of its unmatched culture: “The connection among coaches, players, and families is unlike anywhere else,” he says. He is driven to help the club grow into the biggest futsal program in the country—confident it is already the best.

To Sammy, futsal is “out of this world”—a blend of hockey, baseball, and soccer that can swing from a 10-9 thriller to a tactical 1-0 chess match without losing an ounce of intensity. The sport lets him defend, dribble, and shoot with equal freedom, and he encourages his players to relish that same creativity.

His favorite playing memory came when City Futsal (Dallas, TX) invited him to Barcelona, where he faced FC Barcelona’s academy team in an electric atmosphere he has matched only at the men’s national-team camp. Off the court, Sammy’s passions include music and dancing—he proudly signs off with BFAB: “Born From a Boombox.”

JUAN FERNÁNDEZ

JUAN FERNÁNDEZ

Director of Outreach
Message

Originally from Buenos Aires, Argentina, Juan M. Fernández has been at home on the futsal court since childhood. Although he never joined a formal league, he grew up playing “baby fútbol”—Argentina’s 5-v-5, flat-surface game—and has now logged about ten years of adult futsal experience. Juan serves as the club’s Director of Outreach, a role that lets him support the program far beyond the sidelines.

Juan loves coaching for OLé because of the club’s strong community spirit and its commitment to high-level tactics—something he says can’t be found anywhere else in Grand Rapids. He also appreciates futsal’s unique benefits: like many Argentine players, he believes the game’s tight spaces create exceptionally technical footballers, and he enjoys the sport’s basketball-like patterns of movement.

His favorite futsal memory dates back to tenth grade, when student teams faced a teachers’ squad that included a former Pan-American Games athlete and an international soccer player. Armed with a smart game plan—and a hot-handed goalkeeper—Juan’s class shocked the school by winning 7-1; he scored three goals in the upset, a story that still comes up at every high school reunion. Today he channels that same tactical insight and competitive joy into every OLé training session.
